Recent Work

My new darkroom:

Now who could really believe that sitting in front of a computer with CS would be cooler than this??? eh?? - Anyway I do both -
I can make 30"x40" prints in here - I have all my chems and mixing tools - also my press and mounting tools as well. A small computer
mounted on the wall tracks my formulas and times. I also have a densitometer for fine tuning chemistries. I can do alt process work in
here too.

All of these are print scans today. Mostly printed on a warm tone heavy FB paper made in Hungary from a company that is no longer
in business. At least the Croats and the Russians are still making this kind of paper ... at a reasonable cost. There are 2 British companies
as well that make Graded Chlorobromide papers in a warm tone.

As is typical - the scan is not like the print - the print has good separations for all the low tones - making the barn stand out. This
was the first time I had seen an empty area around the barn as it is in constant use. I have photographed it 3 times now and will
likely continue to study it. Most barn work is kind of ... well ... too common. I guess this on is the one that captured me.

I did not realize when I photographed this that I was heading into one of those "Areas" that the military does all their unspoken projects.
I kind of slithered out of there just as it got dark.

The ant on the hill is my son. Does this look familiar?? Seems I have seen this area before - like Star Trek and about 25 Westerns.
I made a 20"x30" print of this. There is no grain from the 4"x5" negative. I have it proudly displayed in a place where I can sit and view
it every day - (a very small room with a very large print).

Portrait

I posted his kids earlier - a very good friend of mine. LARGE softbox to the left of the camera - 6'x4' Shoot through panel behind the
camera metered 2/3 stop below. The hairlight is one stop over keylight. As you can see - even at f22, my depth of field is from the tip
of his nose to the back of his cheek and all gets soft after that - long lens portrait photography can be a challenge - even with 2000w/sec
of light.

Savannah

Eating potatoes
All these were taken with a Hasselblad 500 and an 80mm Prontor - all using TRI-X at ASA1600 and developed in XTOL. All are
are available light. She is my grandaughter and this is my wife, Loretta. Savannah spent many many days with us. She became ill and
passed away a few weeks ago. Her memorial is Saturday. I will not be able to take any more of her. - So shoot them while you have
them. This was taken one week before she became ill. She was ill for three days, she was eight months old.
